Nokia Asha 308 And 309 Smartphones Introduced

Today Nokia has introduced two new handsets to its Asha range of smartphones, in the form of the Nokia Asha 308 and Nokia Asha 309.

Both devices have been designed by Nokia to provide customer with an affordable capacitive touchscreen experience, and are both 2G enabled. Watch the videos after the jump to see more details and the phones in action.

The latest additions to the Nokia Asha Touch range are also supplied supporting Nokia web services and developer tools, with the Nokia Asha 308 also supporting dual SIMs if required. Timo Toikkanen, executive vice president, Mobile Phones, Nokia, explained:

“Our innovative Asha Touch family of devices is designed for people who want a great smartphone experience with lower running costs,”-”By introducing the Nokia Asha 308 and Nokia Asha 309, we’re expanding our affordable smartphone lineup and bringing new mobile experiences to more people.”

Both the Nokia Asha 308 and Nokia Asha 309 will be arriving in stores during the fourth quarter of this year and will be priced around $99.


Chrome For iOS Updated For iOS 6 And New Larger iPnone 5 Screen

Google has rolled out a new updated for its Chrome for iOS application Monday, which has added a number of new tweaks and enhancements for Apple’s new iOS 6 mobile operating system.

Apple launched their new iOS 6 operating system last week, replacing the awesome Google Maps app with their own, rough around the edges version of a mapping app. Which Apple has said is a work in progress and will improve over time.



One of the new features now available in Chrome for iOS is support for the new iPhone 5′s larger screen together with undisclosed security, performance and stability enhancements in version Chrome for iOS version 21.0.1180.82.

Gardner GoTab £59 6 Inch Android Tablet Announced In The UK

UK booksell Gardner Books has just announced one of the cheapest Android tablets that will be available in the UK, the Gardner GoTab, which is a 6 inch Android tablet that will retail for just £59 (about $96).

The Gardner GoTab will come with a 6 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and will come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and a 1GHz processor.

On top of that the Gardner GoTab will come with 4GB of built in storage plus a microSD card slot and a front facing VGA camera for photo and video chat, other features will include WiFi and a battery that will give you up to four hours usage, not bad for £59.

Nokia To Sue HTC Over New Windows Phone Smartphones (Rumor)

HTC recently announced their latest Windows Phone 8 smartphones, the HTC Windows Phone 8X and the HTC Windows Phone 8S, both devices come with a new brightly colored design, and if you look at the photos below they look very similar to the designs of Nokia’s new Lumia Windows Phone 8 smartphones.

Nokia were less than impressed when the designs of the new HTC Windows Phone devices were revealed, and now according to a recent report, Nokia is considering suing HTC over the designs of these new devices.

Of course this is just a rumor at the moment, and has yet to be confirmed, but Nokia could end p trying to have HTC’s new Windows Phone 8 devices banned before they go on sale.

Smartphone Maker Huawei Working On Its Own Mobile OS

There have been rumors for a while that smartphone maker Huawei has been working on their own mobile operating system, this is something that the company has denied in the past.

Now Huawei have confirmed that they are in the process of developing their own mobile OS, although they have said that the OS is being built as a ‘back up’ in the event that other companies will not let it use their software.

“We’re also devoting resources into coming up with a phone operating system based on our current platform in case other companies won’t let us use their system one day,” CEO Wan Biao told Reuters in an interview.

There are no details as yet on how far along the development process they are for this new mobile OS, and also no details on exactly what it is like, it will be interesting to see if Huawei decide to use their own OS on devices in the future.

Archos 97 Xenon Android Tablet Announced

Archos has today announced a new addition to their range of tablets with the launch of the new Archos 97 Xenon Android tablet.

The new Archos 97 Xenon will be supplied running Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system, and is equipped with a 1024 x 768 pixel, 9.7 inch IPS screen.

The Archos 97 Xenon tablet is powered by a single-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz, supported by 512MB of RAM, and is fitted with a VGA front facing camera and rear facing 2 megapixel camera.
